Amazon cuts off old Kindles from Kindle Store
Ars Technica·
Amazon is ending access to the Kindle Store for e-reader models released in 2012 or earlier, effective May 20. This marks the first time the company has completely severed older devices from its digital bookstore. While users can still read downloaded books, they will be unable to purchase or download new content. Devices that are factory reset will also lose their ability to sign in to Amazon accounts. Amazon is offering discounts on new Kindles and ebook credits as an incentive for users to upgrade their devices.
