BRK Capital raises $14.5M for Black founders
TechCrunch·
BRK Capital's Fund II has secured approximately $14.5 million USD towards its $50 million CAD target, aiming to invest in high-growth technology companies founded by individuals from the Black community. The fund focuses on ventures building solutions for the future of work, living, and global connectivity, primarily in Canada but with potential for global backing. Managing partner Lise Birikundavyi views this as an arbitrage opportunity, leveraging overlooked markets and diverse lived experiences to unlock venture potential, rather than solely a DEI initiative. The firm plans to invest in 25 companies with average check sizes ranging from $250,000 to $1.5 million.
