Cloudflare launches EmDash, a secure WordPress successor
Cloudflare Blog·
Cloudflare has unveiled EmDash, a new open-source Content Management System designed as a spiritual successor to WordPress. Built entirely in TypeScript and leveraging Astro, EmDash aims to address WordPress's long-standing plugin security vulnerabilities by running each plugin in an isolated sandbox environment. This sandboxing, powered by Cloudflare's Dynamic Workers, ensures plugins can only access data and perform actions explicitly declared in their manifest, significantly enhancing security. EmDash is serverless but offers flexibility for deployment on various platforms, including self-hosting. The project is MIT licensed and available on GitHub, with an early developer beta accessible now.
