COVID vaccines protect against heart issues
Ars Technica·
A large study utilizing data from over one million U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs patients indicates that updated COVID-19 vaccines continue to offer significant protection against cardiovascular problems, particularly for individuals over 75 and those with pre-existing health conditions. The research, published in JAMA Internal Medicine, found that the 2024-2025 vaccine effectively reduced the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, including heart attacks and strokes, by 38 percent. Despite these findings, vaccination rates remain low, influenced by anti-vaccine sentiment, which experts note is negatively impacting public health outcomes.
