Deezer: 44% of uploads are AI, most streams fraudulent
Ars Technica·
Music streaming service Deezer reports a significant surge in AI-generated music, with 44% of new uploads now being AI-created, amounting to 75,000 tracks daily. Despite this volume, AI music streams constitute only 1-3% of overall usage. Deezer has developed technology to detect and label AI content, noting that listeners struggle to distinguish AI tracks from human-created music. The company states that the primary motivation behind these AI uploads is fraud, as Deezer demonetizes approximately 85% of AI streams because they are not generated by genuine listeners.
