Early Universe black hole confirmed by JWST
Ars Technica·
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has provided evidence confirming that a "little red dot" observed in the early universe is a supermassive black hole with minimal surrounding galaxy. Gravitational lensing magnified and revealed the object, known as Abell 2744-QSO1, as it appeared 700 million years after the Big Bang. Analysis of its spectrum and luminosity suggests a black hole mass around 50 million times that of the Sun. This finding indicates that the relationship between black hole luminosity and mass, observed in the present universe, likely held true even in the early cosmos.
