European police warn 75,000 alleged cybercriminals

Law enforcement agencies across Europe have initiated Operation PowerOFF, targeting distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) for-hire services. As part of this operation, Europol has sent warning emails and letters to over 75,000 individuals suspected of utilizing these services to launch cyberattacks. The crackdown involved seizing servers, leading to the identification of users, four arrests, domain takedowns, and search warrants. DDoS attacks remain a prevalent threat due to their disruptive potential and ease of execution, often facilitated by readily available for-hire platforms.
