F1 tweaks hybrid systems to improve racing
Ars Technica·
Formula 1 is implementing rule changes to address issues with its current hybrid powertrains, aiming to enhance the racing spectacle. The primary concerns involve energy management, particularly the limited battery power deployment per lap and the resulting speed differentials between cars. New regulations, effective from the Miami Grand Prix, will reduce the maximum energy recharge and deployment limits, encouraging more consistent flat-out driving and reducing dangerous speed gaps. These adjustments also include modifications to the electric motor's power output in different racing scenarios and a revised boost system.
