FDA investigation into baby formula botulism inconclusive
Ars Technica·
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released an 'underwhelming' report on the baby botulism outbreak linked to infant formula, admitting it still doesn't know the exact cause or how to prevent future occurrences. Despite tracing the contamination to specific milk lots and formula batches, the agency could not pinpoint where the bacteria entered the production chain. The companies involved, ByHeart, Organic West, and Dairy Farmers of America, are pointing fingers at each other, with no single entity taking public responsibility. This lack of clarity leaves consumers and manufacturers without clear guidance.
