GOG apologizes for Nazi symbols in email
The Verge·
GOG, a digital storefront, has issued an apology after mistakenly including symbols associated with the Nazi SS in a newsletter promoting the game 'The End of the Sun.' The company cited a 'series of mistakes,' including miscommunication with a German QA team, font rendering issues, and staffing shortages during a holiday. The symbols, which included the Sowilō rune meaning 'sun,' were intended to represent Slavic mythology featured in the game. GOG explained that some platforms incorrectly displayed these Slavic runes as Nazi-related imagery, leading to the unfortunate error.
