Google engineer arrested for insider trading
CoinDesk·
A Google security engineer, Michele Spagnuolo, faces federal charges for allegedly using nonpublic search data to engage in insider trading on the prediction market platform Polymarket. Officials claim Spagnuolo accessed internal Google tools to determine trending search topics, then placed bets on the platform regarding which individuals would be most searched. He allegedly transferred approximately $3.8 million in USDC to a Polymarket account and profited over $1.2 million from these trades before attempting to conceal the funds. This incident marks the second major arrest for insider trading on Polymarket.
