Google expands quantum computing research

Google Quantum AI is broadening its quantum computing research by investing in neutral atom quantum computing alongside its existing superconducting approach. This dual strategy aims to accelerate progress toward building commercially viable quantum computers capable of solving complex problems. Neutral atom systems offer advantages in qubit count and connectivity, while superconducting systems excel in circuit depth and speed. By pursuing both modalities, Google seeks to leverage complementary strengths and cross-pollinate research breakthroughs to achieve its mission sooner.
