Google, Pentagon Reportedly Agree AI Use Deal

Google has reportedly entered into a classified agreement with the US Department of Defense, permitting the use of its AI models for "any lawful government purpose." This development follows internal dissent from Google employees who urged CEO Sundar Pichai to prevent the Pentagon from utilizing their AI, citing fears of its application in harmful ways. Should this deal be confirmed, Google would join other major tech players like OpenAI and xAI in establishing similar classified AI partnerships with the US government. Anthropic was previously on this list but was removed after refusing certain Pentagon requirements.
