Google: Quantum computing threatens Bitcoin sooner
CoinDesk·
Google's Quantum AI team suggests that breaking Bitcoin's cryptography with quantum computers may require significantly fewer qubits than previously estimated, potentially making the threat more imminent. Their research indicates that around 1,200 to 1,450 high-quality qubits could be sufficient for certain attack methods, challenging earlier projections of millions of qubits. This raises concerns about the security of existing crypto wallets and transactions, especially as quantum computing capabilities advance. Meanwhile, OpenAI announced a record $122 billion funding round, highlighting its significant growth and market dominance in the AI sector.
