Hantavirus outbreak cases drop to 10
Ars Technica·
The World Health Organization has confirmed that the hantavirus outbreak on the cruise ship MV Hondius has decreased to 10 cases, following the reclassification of a previously reported US case as a false positive. The individual in question, an American doctor aboard the ship, experienced mild symptoms and subsequent testing, including serology, proved negative for both current and past infection. While the evacuation of passengers is complete, officials caution that more cases might emerge due to the virus's long incubation period. Strict quarantine and testing protocols are in place for repatriated passengers to monitor for any further developments.
