Intel refreshes non-Ultra Core CPUs with new silicon
Ars Technica·
Intel has introduced its new non-Ultra Core Series 3 processors, codenamed "Wildcat Lake," marking the first refresh with new silicon in a while. These chips utilize a simpler design compared to the flagship Core Ultra series, featuring two tiles: a compute tile with CPU, integrated GPU, and an NPU capable of 17 TOPS, alongside a separate platform controller tile. While not designed for cutting-edge performance, they are built on Intel's 18A process, promising improved battery life. However, their NPU falls short of the 40 TOPS required for Microsoft's Copilot+ PC designation, meaning they won't support exclusive AI features.
