LayerZero apologizes for Kelp DAO exploit response
The Block·
LayerZero has issued a public apology for its communication following the $292 million Kelp DAO exploit, admitting fault in its previous response. The protocol acknowledged that allowing its DVN to act as a sole verifier for high-value transactions was a mistake. LayerZero attributed the attack to North Korea's Lazarus Group, which allegedly compromised internal RPC nodes and DDoS'd external ones to forge a cross-chain message. The company is implementing security changes, including ending support for the 1/1 DVN configuration, to prevent future incidents.
