Lululemon backs Epoch Biodesign's plastic recycling innovation

Epoch Biodesign, a startup founded by Jacob Nathan, has developed a novel method to break down plastic waste, particularly nylon 6,6 from textiles, into reusable monomers. This process utilizes enzymes to transform discarded fabrics into raw materials, offering a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based plastics. The company aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate the price volatility associated with them. Lululemon has invested in Epoch Biodesign, participating in a $12 million funding round to support the construction of a demonstration-scale facility.
