Meta Accuses NSO of Violating Spyware Injunction
Ars Technica·
Meta alleges that NSO Group, a spyware developer, has violated a court order prohibiting it from targeting WhatsApp users. WhatsApp claims to have disrupted spear-phishing attempts linked to NSO, accusing the company of contempt of court. This follows a previous legal victory for WhatsApp, which secured a permanent injunction against NSO after the latter was found to have used the messaging platform to deploy spyware. NSO, previously blacklisted by the US government, argues the injunction jeopardizes its core Pegasus spyware product. Meta is seeking to hold NSO accountable for continued defiance of US courts and international legal standards.
