Meta reverses VR metaverse shutdown plans
The Verge·
Meta is altering its strategy regarding its VR metaverse, deciding to keep its virtual reality environments operational for the foreseeable future. Initially slated for shutdown on June 15th in favor of a mobile-first approach, the company has now announced that existing VR worlds will remain accessible. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth confirmed that the Horizon Worlds VR app will continue to be available for download. This decision suggests a continued, albeit potentially adjusted, commitment to its VR metaverse ambitions.
