Meta to reduce Instagram's PG-13 rating references
The Verge·
Meta has agreed with the Motion Picture Association (MPA) to significantly decrease its references to the PG-13 movie rating for Instagram's teen accounts. While Meta asserts that its underlying content guidelines for users aged 13 and older will remain unchanged, the company has acknowledged the MPA's feedback on how these guidelines are communicated. This agreement follows a cease and desist order from the MPA earlier this year, which objected to Meta's use of the PG-13 rating to describe content restrictions related to nudity and suggestive material on the platform. The change focuses on the language used to describe existing policies.
