Mobileye plans robotaxi service, expands beyond supplier role

Mobileye, an Intel subsidiary known for supplying autonomous vehicle technology, is expanding its strategy to include operating its own robotaxi service. The company plans to launch in a U.S. city in 2027 with an initial fleet of 100 vehicles, aiming to scale to 17,000 within five years. This move positions Mobileye to compete directly with some of its existing clients, leveraging its self-driving systems and its owned transit app, Moovit. The company views this as a complementary business that will accelerate adoption and provide direct operational experience, showcasing the full potential of autonomous mobility.
