Musketeer d'Artagnan's grave may be found
Ars Technica·
Archaeologists in the Netherlands may have discovered the remains of the real-life d'Artagnan, the famed French Musketeer. A skeleton unearthed beneath a church floor, potentially dating back to the 17th century, bears clues consistent with historical accounts of his death during a siege. The discovery was made during repairs to the church's centuries-old tile floor. While a musket ball fragment and a 17th-century coin were found with the remains, definitive identification awaits DNA sequencing and further anthropological examination. This find could solve a centuries-old mystery surrounding the burial site of the inspiration for Alexandre Dumas' famous novel.
