New Rowhammer attacks compromise Nvidia GPUs
Ars Technica·
Researchers have developed two new Rowhammer attacks, GDDRHammer and GeForge, that exploit vulnerabilities in Nvidia GPUs. These attacks can induce bit flips in GPU memory, allowing attackers to gain full control of the host machine's CPU memory. This bypasses existing Rowhammer mitigations designed for CPU memory. The attacks require IOMMU memory management to be disabled, which is often the default setting. This discovery highlights the need for integrated security solutions that address both CPU and GPU memory threats.
