NZXT settles PC rental lawsuit for $3.45 million
The Verge·
NZXT and its partner Fragile will pay $3.45 million to resolve a class-action lawsuit concerning their Flex PC rental service. The suit alleged deceptive practices, claiming the program was misrepresented as a rent-to-own option rather than a rental service. Approximately 19,322 customers were allegedly defrauded through misleading marketing and aggressive debt collection tactics. This preliminary settlement, filed in a California District Court, aims to close the civil RICO case. Despite the settlement, NZXT and Fragile reportedly continue to offer PC rental programs under the new agreement, indicating an ongoing business model adjustment.
