OkCupid Settles FTC Claims Over Photo Sharing

Dating app OkCupid has agreed to settle with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations that it shared user photos with a facial recognition company without consent. While OkCupid and its parent company, Match Group, did not admit wrongdoing, they have committed to avoiding similar misrepresentations in the future. The FTC complaint detailed how OkCupid provided access to nearly three million user photos, along with demographic and location data, to facial recognition firm Clarifai. This settlement addresses concerns about user privacy and data handling practices within the online dating industry.
