Prada designs high-tech long johns for Moon mission
The Verge·
Prada, in collaboration with Axiom Space, has developed advanced undergarments for astronauts. These Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garments (LCVG) will be worn beneath spacesuits during the Artemis IV mission, aiming for a lunar return in 2028. The LCVG's primary function is to regulate astronaut body temperature by circulating cold water through embedded tubes, effectively removing excess heat. Notably, this new design includes a backup system for enhanced safety, a significant improvement over previous cooling suit technologies. The garment also integrates a crucial ventilation system to ensure astronaut comfort and performance during extended lunar operations.
