Ripple targets AI agents with XRP Ledger payments

Ripple has launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit, providing tools for developers to build AI agents capable of making payments using XRP and its RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger. This initiative aims to capture a share of the burgeoning machine-to-machine payments market, currently dominated by USDC. Ripple emphasizes the XRP Ledger's advantages, including speed, low transaction fees, and a native decentralized exchange, to facilitate seamless, automated transactions for AI services. However, the adoption of the underlying x402 protocol, which enables these payments, faces challenges related to synchronization risks between web requests and blockchain confirmations, and early market activity has primarily utilized other stablecoins.
