Ronin Transitions to Ethereum Layer 2

The gaming-focused blockchain Ronin, known for powering Axie Infinity, is migrating from an independent sidechain to an Ethereum Layer 2 solution. This significant upgrade, scheduled for May 12, aims to bolster security, enhance scalability, and improve cost-efficiency by leveraging the Ethereum network's robust infrastructure. The transition involves a hard fork and an estimated 10 hours of network downtime, during which all transactions and in-game actions will be paused. This move is expected to drastically reduce RON token inflation and strengthen the network's defenses following a major exploit in 2022.
