Scientists Struggle to Engage Audiences
TechCrunch·
A recent survey analyzing over 500 science conference presentations revealed that humor is rarely successful in engaging scientific audiences. Two-thirds of humor attempts resulted in minimal or no laughter, with only 9% achieving widespread amusement. Technical difficulties, ironically, were the most effective at eliciting audience reactions. While many presentations avoid humor altogether, researchers suggest that incorporating it could make content more memorable, despite the inherent difficulty in achieving laughs in such settings.
