SkyMapper and Avalanche secure telescope records

SkyMapper has launched a new Avalanche-based network to create secure, verifiable digital records of telescope observations worldwide. This system, dubbed 'Proof of Space Observation' (POSO), cryptographically signs and anchors data fingerprints on the Avalanche blockchain, ensuring authenticity and immutability. By decentralizing storage and verifying data origin, SkyMapper tackles the growing challenge of validating vast amounts of space-related data from satellites and missions. The SETI Institute is contributing live data, marking a significant integration of scientific data into blockchain verification.
