Spotify wins $322M from music pirates
The Verge·
Spotify, alongside major music labels, has secured a $322 million default judgment against Anna's Archive, an open-source library and activist group. This group had planned to release millions of music files illegally obtained from Spotify's platform. The judgment follows the operator's failure to respond to a lawsuit filed in January. Anna's Archive had previously announced its intention to create a "preservation archive" by ripping 86 million songs from Spotify, prompting this legal action from the streaming service and record labels.
