Teacher builds life-size ENIAC replica with students
IEEE Spectrum·
Roboticist-turned-teacher Tom Burick led students at PS Academy in Arizona to construct a full-scale replica of the historic ENIAC computer. This project commemorates the 80th anniversary of the pioneering machine. Burick, who previously ran a robotics company, now focuses on teaching students with autism and other learning needs, leveraging his own neurodivergent experience. The ENIAC replica project utilizes students' strengths like hyperfocus and precision, demonstrating how hands-on, real-world problem-solving can foster technical skills and confidence.
