YouTube is enhancing its AI deepfake detection capabilities by extending a specialized feature to celebrities, aiming to combat unauthorized use of their likeness. This likeness detection tool actively scans the platform for AI-generated content impersonating public figures enrolled in the program. Celebrities can utilize this feature to monitor videos featuring them and subsequently request the removal of problematic deepfakes, subject to YouTube's privacy policy review. Initially tested with content creators, the program has already been broadened to include politicians and journalists, underscoring YouTube's commitment to addressing AI-driven misinformation.
