YouTube expands AI likeness detection for celebrities
TechCrunch·
YouTube is enhancing its AI-powered likeness detection technology to identify deepfakes and AI-generated content, now extending its reach to the entertainment industry. This tool functions similarly to Content ID, flagging simulated faces to protect creators and public figures from unauthorized identity use, particularly in scam advertisements. Initially piloted with select creators, the feature now includes politicians, journalists, and talent agencies, allowing them to request removal of infringing content. While parody and satire are permitted, the technology aims to safeguard individuals' digital identities, with future support planned for audio detection and advocacy for federal regulations like the NO FAKES Act.
