YouTube to label AI-generated videos automatically
Ars Technica·
YouTube is enhancing its approach to identifying AI-generated videos by implementing more prominent and automated labeling. Previously, creators were solely responsible for disclosing AI use, a system that proved unreliable. The platform will now leverage "internal signals" to flag content with significant photorealistic AI elements, moving beyond voluntary disclosures. This change aims to provide viewers with clearer information about video origins, especially as AI tools become more sophisticated in creating realistic visuals. Labels will be more visible, appearing directly below videos or as overlays on Shorts, with permanent tags for content meeting specific detection criteria like C2PA metadata.
