Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Explores Darker Themes
Ars Technica·
The second season of Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again delves into darker and grittier themes, continuing the conflict between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. Cinematographer Hillary Fyfe Spera drew inspiration from 1970s films and Michael Mann's "Thief" to evolve the series' visual style. The season explores the fallout from Fisk's mayoral election and martial law declaration, forcing vigilantes underground. Spera utilized distinct visual languages for Murdock and Fisk, employing warm red tones for the vigilantes in darkness and stark white light for Fisk's institutional power. The season also features flashback scenes with Foggy Nelson, designed to evoke the original Netflix series' aesthetic.
