Google confirms Android app verification timeline
Ars Technica·
Google is set to roll out its developer verification system for Android apps, with key changes beginning September 30th. This initiative requires developers to verify their identities, aiming to combat malware and scams. Initially, verification will be mandatory in countries with high scam rates like Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Google is also extending verification to several third-party app stores, including Samsung's Galaxy Store and Xiaomi's GetApps. A new system service will appear on devices this month, with an 'advanced flow' for bypassing verification becoming globally available in August.
