Kraken replaces LayerZero with Chainlink for asset bridging
CoinDesk·
Kraken is switching its cross-chain infrastructure from LayerZero to Chainlink's CCIP for its wrapped assets, including kBTC. This significant move involves migrating over $3 billion in total value locked, following a substantial $292 million exploit on a LayerZero-powered bridge that impacted the Kelp protocol. The decision underscores a growing concern over the security of existing cross-chain solutions. Chainlink's CCIP was previously chosen by Coinbase for a similar migration of approximately $7 billion in wrapped tokens, indicating a trend towards more robust interoperability solutions in the cryptocurrency space.
