Uber robotaxis launch in Houston by 2027

Uber is expanding its premium robotaxi service, partnering with Lucid and Nuro to launch in Houston by mid-2027. This follows an upcoming launch in San Francisco, marking Uber's entry into a second major market for autonomous vehicles. The company plans to eventually deploy the service in dozens of cities, directly competing with Alphabet's Waymo. Uber is investing significantly in both Lucid and Nuro, acquiring Lucid vehicles and supporting Nuro's technology licensing pivot.
