Microsoft, OpenAI deepen AI partnership with new agreement
OpenAI·
Microsoft and OpenAI have signed a new agreement to advance their partnership, solidifying Microsoft's investment in OpenAI Group PBC at approximately $135 billion. This deal extends Microsoft's exclusive IP rights for OpenAI's frontier models until Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is declared and verified by an independent panel. OpenAI gains more flexibility, including the ability to jointly develop some products with third parties and serve non-API products on any cloud provider, while Microsoft can independently pursue AGI. The agreement also includes a significant commitment from OpenAI to purchase an additional $250 billion in Azure services.
